HONG KONG—South Korea’s leading auction house, Seoul Auction, has opened a new office in Hong Kong, marked by an inaugural private-sales exhibition, “Cutting Edge,” featuring works by young Korean artists. They include The Afro Thinker by Byun Kyung Soo, Brian Drain by Lee Don Gi, and In a Row by Park Yuna, as well as two portraits of Michael Jackson by Son Dong Hyun. The exhibit continues through August 14.

The new office contains a gallery space so it can present regular exhibitions. Established in 1998, Seoul Auction set up a Hong Kong office in 2008 to expand business across the Asian art market. An inaugural sale of modern and contemporary art in October of that year was the first auction in Hong Kong to offer Western contemporary art, according to the house.
